They came looking for medical aid… but they found Jesus!
In the midst of the heavy rains of southern Peru, God opened doors to reach rural communities such as Curahuasi, Huamanpata, and Antilla. Here life is quite challenging. Many of these places are difficult to reach so access to healthcare is limited.
In the middle of the heavy rains in southern Peru, God made a way for the team to reach rural communities like Curahuasi, Huamanpata, and Antilla. Life in these areas is challenging: access to healthcare is limited because they are remote and difficult to reach.
DBS Haku, a ministry of Reflejo, focuses on providing medical care with spiritual support, responding to people’s needs in an integral way.
Five doctors, an ophthalmologist, and twenty medical students traveled from the United States and joined a team of Peruvian doctors committed to serving. Over the course of four days in March, they provided direct assistance to these communities. In addition, seven local Haku volunteers came together to coordinate lodging, meals, transportation, and permits, which made it possible to carry out the campaign in several schools, churches, and community centers.
DBS Haku also carried out the distribution of school supplies for several schools in the area, including a school in Ccapacca. After this many parents came forward and expressed their gratitude towards the team, recognizing that this support plays an important role in helping their children continue their education.
By the end of the four-day medical campaign, the team had cared for 430 people, and 12 of them decided to give their lives to Christ, including two children.
We thank God for everything He is doing in Peru.
And we invite you to continue being part of this work — praying and supporting, so that more communities can be reached with the love of Christ.
