Jane’s Testimony

God prepared me despite of my past

“Jane” (not her name) is a Bolivian nurse who feels God has prepared her to use her hands as an  instrument to show the love of Jesus to the unreached. She always has identified with them, therefore since her missionary preparation she prayed that God would show her an unreached people group, where no one or few will go. It was in one of those times and after several signs from God that she understood her call was to the Pashtuns.

She did not know anyone who worked with this ethnic group, but God had everything prepared and one day she received a call from a member of Reflejo who opened the door and gave her resources to learn more about them. From that point on, the Pashtuns are present at her prayer times and when discouragement comes she says "I look at the map on my wall and pray; and God reminds me that He is preparing my way to go to them".

Jane is shocked by how few individuals know about the Pashtuns even though they are 64,000,000 people who need to be reached, and says "I don't know them, but I love them, I haven't seen them but when I see their pictures I feel their pain and I identify with them". She believes that her identity with them is strengthened by the fact that she, like many of them, has also experienced being abandoned, ignored, discriminated against and mistreated. Jane grew up in a group home. However, in her case, one day someone reached out to her and her life was transformed by the power of the Gospel.

Now Jane's greatest desire is to be in the field to be the bearer of the message with her gifts, talents and specific characteristics that allow her to get close to those who suffer for not knowing the salvation message. In addition, she knows her profession will make it easier for her to get close to them to show them Jesus through her company, dedication and care. Jane says "The career brings you closer to people and you will always be able to help a sick and suffering person; it is an important means to share God's love". She stresses that she may not be able to remove the illness or perhaps heal but Christ does have the power to do so.

This short story of Jane shows us that God has our entire history in His hands and through it He prepares and teaches us to be light in contexts of darkness and gloom. Even when it is not understood by human thinking, God is working to fulfill His purpose among the unreached. He just needs hearts willing to do the task. You are able to answer God's call like Jane and do something incredible for the extension of the Kingdom!
